Bitcoin‘s (BTC) surge to an all-time high of $73,000 and its ability to maintain this level has reactivated altcoins. Amid Bitcoin‘s rise, high-volume altcoins such as Solana (SOL), BNB (BNB), and Avalanche (AVAX), along with Chiliz (CHZ), Pepe (PEPE), and Shiba Inu (SHIB) have seen double-digit increases, indicating that large investors, or “whales,” are shifting funds from Bitcoin to various altcoins.
Bitcoin Sends Mixed Signals
Singapore-based cryptocurrency firm QCP Capital has shed light on the current state of the Bitcoin market, noting a decrease in funding rates and front-end forwards in the perpetual futures market. This decline has led to speculation about a potential reversal in leveraged positions, which could indicate a forthcoming drop in spot prices. On the other hand, as leverage levels in the perpetual futures market normalize, a new sharp upward movement could be seen.
While it is currently impossible to make a definitive statement about a rise or fall, QCP Capital analysts have emphasized the difficulty of carrying positions with high funding rates and expect further normalization on this front. The analysts also advised considering selling more spot-forward spreads before funding rates fully normalize, providing strategic guidance for market participants trying to navigate Bitcoin’s complex market dynamics.
Capital Flows into Major Altcoins
QCP Capital analysts have noted a significant trend with capital flowing into major altcoins like SOL, BNB, and AVAX in parallel with Bitcoin’s movements.
Among these altcoins, BNB stands out with a self-reinforcing cycle driven by Launchpool, where stakers sell large amounts of AirDrop tokens to reinvest in additional assets and consolidate returns before future Binance Launchpool events. This consolidation effect occurs almost weekly, reflecting the frequency of Launchpool pool events.
The observation of capital moving into major volume altcoins reflects changing investor preferences and the dynamic nature of the cryptocurrency market. Analysts predict further rises in BNB, with an initial target of $700 being emphasized.
