Blockchain.com has obtained approval from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) to operate as a virtual asset service provider (VASP), granting the company permission to offer regulated crypto custody services in the country.
Details of the License
CIMA officially granted the new license to Blockchain.com on July 22, 2026. This development allows the company to provide secure custody for digital assets, as well as enable crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange services for its clients in the Cayman Islands.
The approval follows an initial conditional permit issued by CIMA in December 2025. Blockchain.com has maintained VASP registration status in the Cayman Islands since May 2022, supporting its presence and ongoing operations within the region.
The license expands Blockchain.com’s international regulatory footprint and marks a significant step in the company’s growth as a global crypto services provider.

Regulatory Milestones and Strategy
Lane Kasselman, co-CEO of Blockchain.com, described the move as another regulatory achievement for the company. He noted that Blockchain.com has also recently secured a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Regulation license, covering the European economic area, and has completed registration with the UK Financial Conduct Authority.
“We believe strong regulation is essential to the long-term development of digital assets, and these approvals further strengthen our ability to serve customers across the region,” Kasselman stated.
Blockchain.com’s expanding regulatory compliance demonstrates its commitment to serving a broader client base through adherence to local laws and international standards.
Ongoing Expansion in Crypto Services
By obtaining the new VASP license, Blockchain.com consolidates its position as a provider of regulated crypto asset services in the Caribbean. The company continues to build on its services by adding regulatory approvals in key jurisdictions.
The license further allows Blockchain.com to strengthen its exchange and custody offerings, meeting the needs of retail and institutional clients seeking secure digital asset management.
With increasing regulatory requirements worldwide, cryptocurrency companies like Blockchain.com pursue licenses to demonstrate credibility and foster trust among users in a rapidly evolving industry.
