Giorgio Zinetti will resign as Chief Technology Officer at Cardano Foundation on August 31, ending a 2.5-year tenure at the not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Cardano blockchain. Zinetti shared his intention to leave and upcoming personal plans in a post on X.
Zinetti’s departure and leadership transition
Zinetti joined Cardano Foundation in 2024 and served as the technical lead, overseeing major projects aimed at boosting enterprise adoption. In his public announcement, he reflected on his time at the Foundation and expressed gratitude to his colleagues.
After 2.5 years, Zinetti will step down as CTO of the Cardano Foundation at the end of August. He said he is proud of the team’s achievements and looks forward to welcoming his daughter before pursuing a new opportunity.
The Cardano Foundation affirmed Zinetti’s exit in a separate statement posted on X but did not name a successor or detail the transition plan for the CTO role. Leadership stated that the board and executive team will continue working closely with senior technical and business development leaders to maintain momentum on enterprise adoption.
“In line with our current roadmap, The Foundation Board and Executive team continues to work closely with our technical and senior business development leaders to maintain a direct focus on enterprise adoption,” the Foundation stated on X.
Emurgo exits governance after wallet exploit
The Cardano Foundation, based in Switzerland, operates as a not-for-profit organization responsible for advancing the Cardano blockchain, while working alongside Input Output Global (IOG) and Emurgo. IOG, led by Charles Hoskinson, is Cardano’s engineering division, whereas Emurgo acts as the commercial branch.
In July, Emurgo revealed it would step down from its role in Cardano’s governance group after its SecondFi wallet was exploited, resulting in the loss of 2.4 million ADA tokens.
Mini dictionary: Emurgo, a founding entity of Cardano, focuses on driving adoption through commercial ventures and strategic partnerships.
