Cardano (ADA) is experiencing persistent selling pressure, with buyers unable to establish clear momentum as the token remains below major resistance levels. Despite a recent partnership announcement between the Cardano Foundation and Mastercard, technical indicators suggest that the short-term outlook for ADA remains fragile.

Bearish momentum and resistance thresholds

ADA has failed to recover above a significant weekly support, leaving the token exposed to further bearish action. Analyst Crypto_Jobs pointed to a recent retest of this area, noting the absence of a convincing bullish structure. Market participants are closely watching the $0.2150 and $0.2300 resistance levels; reclaiming these thresholds could improve sentiment, but ADA has yet to break through either point.

According to Crypto_Jobs, only a consistent move above $0.2300 would serve as a strong bullish confirmation, while remaining below these levels puts Cardano at risk of further consolidation and potential downside.

Trading data from TradingView shows ADA has been trading within a broad range of approximately $0.190 to $0.232. The lower boundary formed after ADA slipped to $0.190 on September 1, which initially triggered a recovery. This bounce allowed the price to move above several moving averages and pushed ADA toward a peak near $0.232 on September 8.

Sellers, however, emerged near the upper boundary and halted upward momentum, sending the price down to about $0.20225. The reversal weakened the earlier bullish structure and intensified bearish pressure on buyers.

Key technical markers and market sentiment

The latest pullback has dragged ADA below its 200-day exponential moving average (EMA), which now sits around $0.20414. This development undermines the short-term technical outlook, with other EMAs—specifically the 20, 50, and 100-day averages—clustered between $0.20658 and $0.20893. This cluster may act as immediate resistance if ADA attempts a relief rally.

Momentum indicators, including the Relative Strength Index (RSI), do not favor a bullish reversal at the moment. The RSI currently stands at 40.49, below the 46.14 signal line, reflecting underlying market weakness.

IndicatorCurrent ValueKey Level
RSI40.4946.14 (signal line)
200 EMA$0.20414$0.20414
Resistance 1$0.2150–
Resistance 2$0.2300–

CoinGlass reports show that ADA’s daily trading volume has increased by 10.53% to about $503.22 million. Conversely, open interest has decreased by 4.50% to $422.44 million, suggesting that traders are closing positions rather than ramping up leveraged bets. This signals a cautious approach, as market participants await clearer confirmation before reentering aggressively.

The increase in trading activity alongside falling open interest may reflect a realignment of positions, rather than an imminent reversal. Many traders are moving to the sidelines until ADA demonstrates a decisive move in either direction.

Mastercard partnership and Cardano’s ongoing adoption story

Amid technical challenges, Cardano continues to develop its fundamental case. The Cardano Foundation recently joined Mastercard’s Crypto Partner Program within its Blockchains track, aiming to explore stablecoins, cross-border settlements, and business-to-business transactions with Mastercard, a leading global payment technology company.

This partnership is expected to support Cardano’s positioning in the evolving landscape of digital payments, offering potential future benefits in terms of reach and credibility.

Mini dictionary: Cardano Foundation – an independent, non-profit organization that promotes and supports the Cardano blockchain ecosystem, focusing on research, education, and adoption.

The Cardano Foundation revealed that its partnership with Mastercard will involve discussions around stablecoins and global payments, expanding the use cases of the Cardano blockchain for both businesses and consumers.

Despite these positive developments, analysts emphasize that a technical breakout above $0.2300 is still needed to strengthen the case for a sustained bullish reversal. Until then, ADA is likely to remain within the established price range and under continued market scrutiny.
