Column, a California-licensed bank and fintech infrastructure provider, has introduced four new products that aim to simplify how businesses manage stablecoins, card issuing, global banking, and multicurrency accounts.
Comprehensive API Platform Targets Fintech Sector
The company, co-founded by William Hockey, stated that these new offerings are the result of several years spent building foundational tools for fintech companies. The platform allows fintech businesses to consolidate their operations by accessing banking, processing, and capital through a single integration, eliminating the need for multiple third-party services.
Major fintech clients already using Column’s products include Ramp, Brex, Bilt, Mercury, Slash, and Kapital. Hockey reported that these tools are collectively moving billions of dollars on behalf of their partners.
Column integrates banking, card processing, and capital into one streamlined solution, enabling clients to expand faster and more efficiently using one platform.
Column has built its own issuer processor for full-stack card issuing and supports brands including Mastercard and Visa, allowing clients to launch a range of card products—credit, debit, and stablecoin-backed options—directly on its system.
Mini dictionary: Issuer processor — a company or system that manages the technical and regulatory aspects of issuing payment cards, allowing businesses and banks to create and control their own card programs.
Stablecoin Payment Integration and Rapid Transfers
Column’s first new product links USDC and USDT stablecoins directly to U.S. dollar accounts and major payment rails such as FedNow and SWIFT. This enables clients to accept stablecoins, instantly convert them to dollars, and transfer funds through conventional banking channels at any hour.
Hockey cited a cross-border payment scenario where a company receives USDC from Mongolia, converts it to dollars for local banking needs, and simultaneously redistributes a portion in euros to Europe. He emphasized that the entire process can be completed within seconds using just a few API calls, with no need for outside intermediaries.
The market for stablecoin payments continues to grow, with stablecoin card spending reaching $10.9 billion by August, as reported by Paymentscan and RedotPay. In July alone, monthly stablecoin card spending exceeded $1 billion for the first time, up significantly from $339.4 million the previous year.
Clients can now convert stablecoins to U.S. dollars in real time and move money globally around the clock using familiar rails such as FedNow and SWIFT.
Ramp, a corporate expense management platform, launched its own stablecoin business accounts on the Solana blockchain in July. With Column’s infrastructure, its clients can now hold USDC and USDT and pay vendors in more than 140 countries.
Mini dictionary: Solana — a high-performance blockchain supporting scalable decentralized applications and new financial use cases, known for its fast transactions and low fees.
| Product Name | Main Feature | Target Clients |
|---|---|---|
| Stablecoin Tool | Convert USDC/USDT to USD, access payment rails 24/7 | Fintechs needing global payouts |
| Card Issuing | Issue credit, debit, and stablecoin-backed cards | Fintechs, expense platforms |
| Global Banking | Offer local and dollar accounts worldwide | International businesses |
| Multicurrency Accounts | Hold, send, convert foreign currencies | Exporters, global companies |
Global Banking and Multicurrency Expansion
The third product allows verified non-U.S. customers to access dollar or regional currency accounts and issue cards, using Column’s compliance tools for identification and security.
While Column did not disclose every supported country, the service depends on current integration with regional banking and verification systems. This move gives business clients worldwide the ability to expand their financial operations without needing local bank relationships in every new market.
The fourth product is a multicurrency solution, offering customers foreign currency numbered accounts for receiving, holding, sending, and instantly converting funds beyond U.S. dollars. These accounts support international networks such as SEPA Instant, making global payments more accessible for businesses.
Mini dictionary: SEPA Instant — a pan-European payment network that enables instant euro transfers between bank accounts across participating countries, 24/7.
Column has not published exact volume figures but confirmed that its products have already processed billions of dollars for leading fintechs. All four tools share unified architecture, enabling seamless movement between stablecoins, traditional bank accounts, payment cards, and foreign currencies on a single system.
