Zcash (ZEC) surged to $1,635.01 after posting an 11.16% gain in the latest trading session, extending an uptrend that began with a breakout in late August. The privacy-focused cryptocurrency now trades well above its summer range, prompting discussion among analysts over potential short-term volatility despite a robust longer-term outlook.
Analyst highlights short-term risks amid strong rally
Jesse Oslen, a cryptocurrency analyst, observed signs of a potential pullback in ZEC following its recent price spike. He pointed to a bearish divergence on the daily chart and the appearance of a reversal candle, indicating that the token could soon retest support levels if buyers lose momentum.
ZEC maintains a bullish structure on higher time frames, but recent technical signals like bearish divergence and a reversal candle suggest that a retest of key support or further downside is possible.
Oslen also stated that if a correction occurs, it could offer an attractive entry point for investors, as the broader trend remains positive. He referenced the 20-day exponential moving average (EMA) near $1,262.71 as a crucial level to monitor. A sustained dip below this support could intensify selling pressure.
Zcash trades far above key technical levels
TradingView data shows ZEC moved between $390 and $530 throughout the summer before breaking out in late August, quickly accelerating to the current highs. This rapid ascent has left the price significantly above all major moving averages.
The 20-day EMA, holding near $1,262.71, serves as the first key support. The gap between the latest price and this average underlines the strength of recent buying, but also exposes the token to a sharper correction if momentum fades.
Technically, the 20, 50, 100, and 200-day moving averages remain in bullish alignment, while the MACD oscillator continues to signal positive momentum with its main line at 189.87 above the signal line near 164.28. However, the bearish divergence observed on daily charts suggests momentum could be peaking in the near term.
Derivatives and new ETP drive market attention
Derivatives market activity for ZEC has intensified. According to Coinglass, ZEC futures trading volume increased by 9.74% to $7.66 billion, while open interest climbed 14.67% to $3.27 billion. These rising figures point to greater trader activity and the potential for increased price swings, though current data does not reveal a clear bullish or bearish tilt in sentiment.
Both ZEC derivatives volume and open interest reached new highs, signaling heightened engagement among traders and the possibility of further volatility as leveraged positions accumulate.
Adding to the momentum, 21Shares rolled out the first physically backed Zcash exchange-traded product (ETP) in Europe. The ETP, trading under the ticker ZCASH, is listed on Euronext Amsterdam and Euronext Paris. European investors can now gain exposure to ZEC without taking on the technical challenges of wallet management or private key custody.
Zcash operates with a fixed supply of 21 million coins and combines Bitcoin‘s monetary model with advanced privacy protections, such as cryptographic shielded transactions. This focus on privacy could appeal to investors seeking a differentiated asset within the cryptocurrency space.
The rapid growth seen in ZEC has prompted some market observers to emphasize the importance of monitoring technical indicators like the RSI and trend lines, as these provide valuable context for timing entries and exits. In parallel, the surge in meme token markets has demonstrated how internet-driven trends can quickly generate substantial financial activity. Fomo App data recently highlighted a “Niu Lai” transaction turning a $99 stake into about $370,000, underscoring the role of timing and token selection. Fomo App integrates token discovery, trading tools, social feeds, and real-time investor activity, helping traders navigate fast-moving meme token markets.
For Zcash, the 20-day EMA at $1,262.71 remains a pivotal technical level. Price action above this line could sustain further gains, while a break below it might drive a deeper setback. Momentum, derivative flows, and institutional product launches are likely to keep ZEC in focus for the weeks ahead.
