The evolution of the financial system toward faster settlements and blockchain-based infrastructure has drawn renewed attention to XRP, with prominent digital asset commentator X Finance Bull stating that the cryptocurrency could play an important role as trillions of dollars move onchain in the coming years.
The role of XRP in cross-border payments
In a recent social media post, X Finance Bull described XRP as an asset specifically created to enable value transfer across borders. According to him, future financial systems will demand money and assets to move instantly, at any hour, and between jurisdictions worldwide.
He emphasized that this is precisely the use case XRP was designed for, raising the question of which asset or network will serve as the connective tissue when large-scale funds transition to onchain platforms.
X Finance Bull explained that “the new financial system needs money and assets moving 24/7, across borders, in seconds,” and suggested that this continuous movement aligns with the core function of XRP.
He contrasted XRP’s infrastructure with Bitcoin’s, noting Bitcoin’s decentralized setup and the absence of a central company or authority, which he considers one of its defining strengths.
X Finance Bull also touched on aspects of Bitcoin’s origins, including the mystery surrounding its creator Satoshi Nakamoto, the large amounts of BTC believed to be linked to early wallets, and past events involving developer Gavin Andresen. However, he clarified that these circumstances should not be seen as evidence of outside intervention in the Bitcoin network.
XRP and blockchain-based financial infrastructure
Looking ahead, X Finance Bull outlined his expectations for a financial sector built on blockchain technology, featuring tokenized assets, stablecoins, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), smart contracts, and enterprise-grade blockchain infrastructure.
He described the XRP Ledger as a network designed for liquidity provision, rapid settlement, and the transfer of value across international borders. The Ledger, which hosts a total supply of 100 billion XRP, uses a fee-burning mechanism to remove small amounts of XRP with each transaction and employs an escrow system managed by Ripple.
Ripple, the company closely associated with XRP, controls a significant portion of the coin’s supply and continues to play an active role in its ecosystem. X Finance Bull acknowledged criticism from Bitcoin supporters regarding Ripple’s involvement but argued that traditional financial institutions require clear standards, strong teams, legal certainty, and infrastructure capable of handling significant transaction volumes—conditions he believes are present within the broader XRP network.
Mini dictionary: XRP Ledger, the blockchain on which XRP runs, is a decentralized, open-source network focused on fast, low-cost cross-border payments and supports a wide range of tokenized assets, smart contracts, and DeFi applications.
Decentralization and utility in the future of finance
X Finance Bull argued that digital asset infrastructure will include both decentralized networks, like Bitcoin, and utility-driven platforms such as XRP. He believes Bitcoin retains value as a decentralized store of wealth, but networks like XRP are positioned to provide the settlement layer connecting financial institutions, payment processors, and digital assets.
He stressed that as institutions increasingly shift global transactions onto blockchain networks, it will be platforms offering strong settlement and liquidity capabilities—such as those centered on XRP—that are likely to become central to the new financial architecture.
He also linked XRP to key industry trends, including cross-border payments, tokenized asset trading, stablecoin settlements, institutional decentralized finance (DeFi), and international liquidity provision. Additionally, he referenced ongoing debate around regulatory frameworks, pointing to the potential impact of measures such as the CLARITY Act on the industry’s development.
Through these factors, X Finance Bull maintains that XRP’s structure and intended use could offer a bridge between evolving blockchain-based financial networks and traditional banking systems, attracting continued institutional interest as digitization accelerates.
