XRP Ledger validator Vet, known on X as @Vet_X0, has highlighted a key announcement from the recent XRP Seoul conference related to Ripple’s long-term plans. He posted a video clip of Ripple president Monica Long discussing the company’s strategic focus through 2027, emphasizing their intent to shift more transaction volume directly onto the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
Ripple’s 2027 vision centers on the XRP Ledger
Monica Long made Ripple’s commitment clear by stating, “XRP Ledger is really at the center of our universe.” She explained that Ripple’s annual plan for 2027 revolves around driving customer transaction volume onto the XRP Ledger as a foundational corporate objective.
Long referenced the firm’s payments business as a major area of growth. She reported that Ripple’s full-stack payments infrastructure has seen transaction volumes increase tenfold year over year. According to her, this surge presents a strong opportunity to move volume onto XRPL, particularly leveraging RLUSD, Ripple’s proprietary stablecoin.
Ripple president Monica Long outlined that bringing all customer transactions onto the XRP Ledger is the company’s key direction for 2027, clarifying, “XRP Ledger is really at the center of our universe.”
Decentralized exchange payments pilot and customer needs
Long discussed a recent pilot where payments were processed using the decentralized exchange (DEX) on the XRP Ledger. The test yielded tangible benefits, prompting an evolution in Ripple’s approach to DEX-based payments for enterprise clients.
Early on, Ripple expected financial institutions would connect directly to the blockchain and use the DEX for mutual payments. In practice, Long acknowledged that institutions still require features to address compliance, privacy, and control, which has shaped Ripple’s refined value proposition: managing these complexities on behalf of its customers.
Describing on-ledger payments with the DEX as “a key part of the engine that sits under the hood,” Long projected substantial growth for DEX-enabled payments by 2027 as Ripple moves past the pilot stage toward broader deployment.
Lending protocol to unlock payments and credit
Validator Vet specifically pointed to the intersection of payments and short-term credit as a breakthrough enabled by the XLS-66 Lending Protocol. He described the integration of lending with payments as a “powerful unlock” for Ripple and its clients.
Ripple plans to enable pools of XRP to be loaned through the protocol, providing collateral for instant payments and short-term credit—services especially critical for payment service providers operating around the clock and across time zones.

Many payment service businesses require reliable short-term credit to maintain 24/7 operations. By integrating the XRP Ledger’s lending protocol, Ripple aims to deliver flexible funding solutions tailored for these institutional needs.
Expanding XRP utility and next steps
Long concluded that the enhancements show expanding XRP utility throughout Ripple’s ecosystem, connecting payment transactions, credit, and decentralized finance under one infrastructure. Validator Vet’s assessment aligned, noting that the infrastructure is moving from test phases to full-scale commercial application across both payments and lending.
Ripple plans to advance these initiatives from the pilot stage to active deployment starting in 2027, pursuing broader adoption among its corporate partners and financial customers.
