Fairshake, the leading crypto-focused political action committee in the US, has publicized its support for 32 incumbent members of the House of Representatives in the upcoming November elections. The super PAC is allocating approximately $1 million to each of six selected candidates, representing both Democratic and Republican parties.

Bipartisan support targets key committees

Fairshake’s new list includes 13 Democrats and 19 Republicans, all of whom are currently serving in the House. The selected incumbents generally hold seats considered safe in this election cycle, giving the cryptocurrency sector a foundation for strengthening ties with legislators seen as supportive of innovation in the US.

According to Fairshake spokesman Geoff Vetter, “Fairshake has always been and always will be an issue-focused organization. We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties.”

Many of the supported lawmakers serve on influential committees such as the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Financial Services Committee, both of which play crucial roles in upcoming debates on digital asset taxation and regulatory structure. Additional representation appears on the agriculture, science, and judiciary panels, which are expected to be critical for forthcoming crypto-related bills.

Six candidates to receive major backing

On the Republican side, Fairshake is financially backing French Hill, chair of the House Financial Services Committee, Bill Huizenga, a senior committee member, and Bryan Steil, who leads the Digital Assets Subcommittee. Each is set to receive $1 million from Fairshake and its affiliates.

Among Democrats, Steven Horsford, who helped secure bipartisan support for a crypto tax bill as a member of the House tax-writing panel, Derek Tran of California, and Janelle Bynum of Oregon are the top recipients. Rated “A” on digital asset issues by Stand With Crypto, these lawmakers are considered influential voices in shaping future crypto policy.

Janelle Bynum, who represents Oregon, defeated Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer in the last election. Bynum, an advocate for crypto innovation, supported related bills in her first term and attended this year’s DC Blockchain Summit hosted by the Digital Chamber. Chavez-DeRemer, previously endorsed by Fairshake, briefly led the Department of Labor before resigning amid allegations of misconduct.

Mini dictionary: Fairshake, a US-based super PAC, primarily finances political candidates who support legislation favorable to the crypto industry, aiming to influence policy decisions at federal levels.

Fairshake’s influence and outlook

Fairshake claims support for 53 primary winners out of 57 races so far, aiming to build what it calls “the largest pro-crypto caucus in American history.” The PAC’s strategy has been to favor candidates from dominant parties in their respective districts, contributing to previous electoral successes.

In many of those primaries, Fairshake favored a candidate from the party that’s likely to win the general election — a strategy it succeeded with in the prior election.

While the House has generally posed less resistance to digital asset legislation, the Senate has proven more challenging. Despite the passage of the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act (GENIUS Act) last year, the more comprehensive Digital Asset Market Clarity Act failed in the Senate in recent months.

Fairshake has not launched any major efforts against senators who opposed this stalled legislation. Instead, the group’s major opposition spending is focused on former Senator Sherrod Brown, a longtime crypto skeptic who once chaired the Senate Banking Committee. Reports indicate that Fairshake has spent about $30 million to defeat Brown’s return bid, with an additional $3 million coming from a PAC associated with Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss.
