What is Worldcoin (WLD)?
Worldcoin, the altcoin project of Sam Altman, the founder and CEO of viral AI chatbot OpenAI, is a digital identity protocol aimed at supporting humanity in the age of artificial intelligence. The WLD token, which has governance features, acts as the project’s service token.
While Worldcoin stands out as an iris biometric cryptocurrency project, it comes along with the World ID system, Orb with iris scanner, and Wold App wallets. Although many experts express privacy and security concerns about the project, Altman, the co-founder of Worldcoin, believes that the company’s AI with iris scanning technology being open source will reduce all these privacy concerns over time.
