Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of a workshop on the Fantom blockchain network aimed at teaching Web3 developers the skills to create decentralized games. According to a statement today from the Fantom Blog website, anyone interested in learning these skills can participate in the workshop or follow the developments.
Workshop to Open the Doors to Web3
The Web3 development workshop on the Fantom network will introduce participants to various fundamental concepts through Web3 games. The project emphasizes that learning through game development will be more effective in creating engaging and immersive programs than traditional methods.
The Web3 development workshop will leverage AWS’s cloud infrastructure and initially consist of 4 labs. Over time, this number will increase to a total of 5. Each lab will guide participants through multiple steps in the process of creating a complete game on Fantom.
Furthermore, each lab will build upon the previous one, resulting in developers having a fully interactive and immersive gaming experience. Now let’s take a closer look at the content of each lab:
Wallet Setup
In the first lab, participants will learn how to set up a MetaMask wallet and connect to the Fantom test network. Having a wallet will enable content creators to have full control over their assets, characters, and items in NFT format.
Chance in Blockchain
The second lab covers the essential topics required to create an engaging gaming experience. Participants will explore various concepts in the blockchain network and utilize Chainlink VRF to add a chance element to their games.
Create a Game
In the third lab, participants will test their newly acquired skills by developing a game. They will learn how to create characters in NFT format and develop a smart contract that sends them on missions to earn points.
Build a User Interface
The fourth lab will teach participants how to create a simple user interface (UI) for their games. The UI will determine how users interact with each game and will be hosted on AWS Amplify, a service that allows users to create full-stack web and mobile applications.
Workshop participants are expected to have a basic understanding of Solidity. AWS also recommends that beginners complete a Web3 development workshop that includes lessons on fundamental blockchain concepts such as what blockchain technology is and how to use it.
