Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, who founded the leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has reiterated his positive outlook on major cryptocurrencies including XRP, Zcash (ZEC), and Solana (SOL), amid controversy over Solana’s expansion efforts in China.
CZ voices support for blockchain adoption
CZ stated on X that he remains an advocate for the advancement of blockchain technology regardless of the country or network involved. He emphasized his support across a broad range of digital assets, naming Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), BNB, XRP, SOL, HYPE, ZEC, SIGN, and several stablecoins as projects he remains optimistic about.
He wrote that he consistently supports any blockchain project making progress in any jurisdiction. This position comes at a time when interest in blockchain innovation in China continues to attract global attention.
“I’m always supportive of any blockchain making any progress in any country,” CZ conveyed on X, highlighting that he is bullish on several established and emerging cryptocurrencies.
Solana’s Shanghai event postponed
The recent discussions followed Solana’s ambitious plans to establish a stronger presence in Shanghai, which encountered an abrupt obstacle. The project’s scheduled event at the Shangri-La Hotel on October 16 was postponed after an unexpected surge in registrations led to complications with local authorities.
On the day of the event, attendees reportedly faced intervention by law enforcement. Organizers explained that logistical challenges—specifically, a fourfold increase in registrants compared to those previously reported to authorities—necessitated the last-minute postponement.
Lily Liu, President of Solana Foundation, addressed the incident, attributing the postponement to overregistration. The spike in interest surpassed expectations and exceeded the numbers approved by local authorities, highlighting the level of demand for blockchain-related gatherings in the city.

CZ addresses speculation over Chinese authorities
Some observers speculated on social media that CZ’s previous encouragement for Solana’s expansion may have alerted Chinese regulators, potentially contributing to the event’s disruption and the removal of Solana advertisements from public spaces in Shanghai.
CZ responded to these rumors directly, clarifying that he had no involvement in the removal of Solana’s building advertisement in Shanghai. According to his account, the digital billboard was taken down within 10 minutes of its display but his public comments were made at least 12 to 24 hours after the advertisement first appeared, making any direct connection unlikely.
He reiterated that his awareness of the Solana advertisement only came several hours after it was already in place, ruling out any suggestion that his comments triggered its removal.
Despite setbacks for the Solana event in Shanghai, CZ continued to emphasize his enthusiasm for blockchain adoption and developments worldwide. He maintained that broader engagement in the sector is positive for the future of crypto, regardless of jurisdiction or region.
