Binance announced that ZKsync (ZK) trading pairs will be listed on its platform today at 11:00 AM UTC. The cryptocurrency exchange also revealed a token distribution program aimed at addressing ongoing concerns from the community. This dual announcement aims to boost confidence in ZKsync amidst divided opinions and criticisms on social media platforms.
Deposits Open Before Listing
Binance is starting spot trading for ZK in pairs like BTC, USDT, FDUSD, and Turkish lira today. The cryptocurrency exchange announced that users can now deposit ZK tokens in preparation for trading and can withdraw funds a day after the listing. This listing coincides with discussions surrounding the ZKsync AirDrop.
In response to community criticisms regarding the ZKsync AirDrop, Binance launched a token giveaway program. The cryptocurrency exchange plans to distribute 10.5 million ZK tokens to approximately 52,500 users. To participate, users must have completed at least 50 ZKsync Era transactions spread over at least seven different months between February 2023 and March 2024. Additionally, eligible users must not have claimed any ZK tokens through the official ZK Nation AirDrop program. Binance plans to conduct the first token AirDrop on June 25.
AirDrop Drew Community Criticism
The community’s reaction primarily revolves around the ZK token distribution announced by the ZKsync Foundation last week. Criticisms emerged due to perceived security vulnerabilities in the AirDrop program, particularly the lack of measures to prevent Sybil attacks where individuals create multiple fake accounts to accumulate more tokens.
Prominent figures in the cryptocurrency world, like Mudit Gupta, Chief Information Security Officer of Polygon, highlighted these issues. Gupta described the ZKsync AirDrop as the most farmable and farmed AirDrop to date, pointing out the absence of effective Sybil filtering mechanisms.
Although the ZKsync team acknowledged the community’s dissatisfaction, they remained committed to the chosen token distribution program. They attempted to address concerns through a series of frequently asked questions, claiming no significant issues were found in the AirDrop program. Despite the criticisms, the team decided to proceed as planned, aiming to reassure users through transparency and engagement.
