Bitcoin traded around $81,000 on September 20, recovering from lows below $76,000 recorded the previous week. Market participants are now focused on whether buyers can propel the price past the $82,000 to $83,000 resistance, a level that has repeatedly limited further gains in recent months.

ETF inflows boost momentum

A renewed surge of capital flowed into U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds, providing a significant boost to sentiment. Data from Farside Investors’ Bitcoin ETF flow tracker indicated that these funds attracted $433 million in net inflows on September 18.

Fidelity’s FBTC led the pack with an inflow of $310.7 million, while BlackRock’s IBIT registered $108.4 million on the same day. The combined ETF inflows reversed recent outflows and contributed to Bitcoin reclaiming an important psychological threshold above $80,000.

ETF demand has resumed after several sessions of selling pressure, with inflows emphasizing investor interest and helping Bitcoin regain market momentum.

The inflows on September 18 followed $159.5 million added to ETFs a day earlier, helping to stabilize the market after a turbulent start to the week. Analysts have pointed to a direct link between institutional buying via ETFs and Bitcoin’s recent price recovery.

Resistance and future outlook

The $82,000 to $83,000 price band remains a challenging area. Several prior attempts to break through have stalled, keeping short-term momentum in check. Should Bitcoin manage a sustained breakout above this resistance, market watchers anticipate a possible move toward $85,000 or even $86,000.

Coinpaper, a cryptocurrency news platform, recently analyzed ongoing difficulties in surpassing this resistance. The publication described the current rally as a continuation of previous setups, with fresh demand from ETFs strengthening the technical case for buyers.

The bullish scenario hinges on strong ETF inflows and Bitcoin holding above key psychological levels, while the bearish argument warns that recent failures around $82,000 highlight persistent selling pressure.

The market’s recent turbulence included back-to-back outflows of $450.4 million on September 15 and $295.9 million on September 16 from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs. This marked a reversal from earlier sessions, when more than $746 million reportedly exited Bitcoin ETFs within a 48-hour period.

Recent ETF inflows are now seen as a critical factor influencing Bitcoin’s recovery, with investors weighing whether the renewed bullish momentum will be enough to break major resistance zones in the days ahead.
