Sell Walls Emerge, Restraining Price Growth

Crypto trader BATMAN stated on October 10 that Bitcoin is facing over $35 million in sell orders situated between $85,000 and $89,000. He marked $85,000 as the first major barrier for the cryptocurrency, noting that buyers would need to absorb this volume for any sustained move higher.

BATMAN pointed to $85,000 as the primary obstacle, citing the large cluster of sell orders above current levels and warning that these needed to be broken down before further gains.

A sell wall forms when several large limit sell orders accumulate above the current price, presenting pronounced resistance in the market. However, such orders may be canceled or shifted, so the presence of $35 million in sell orders does not guarantee that the entire amount will come to market.

Bitcoin has repeatedly struggled to build momentum above $85,000. Research firm QCP Capital, known for its institutional market analysis, earlier identified $87,400 as a key breakout level, suggesting that a decisive move above it could set the stage for an advance toward $90,000.

Glassnode Flags Weak Trading Activity

Glassnode, a leading blockchain analytics provider, issued a report on October 7 underlining concerns with Bitcoin’s current price structure. The firm observed that trading volumes have been notably low despite the latest price rebound, indicating insufficient new capital entering the market.

The analysis also detected renewed selling activity just above $85,000, along with substantial buying near $81,000. Together, these levels suggest Bitcoin is caught within a defined trading range, with sellers at the top and buyers stepping in at the lower end.

Glassnode noted unusually weak spot volumes during the rally, as well as heavy selling on moves above $85,000, signaling limited conviction among buyers.

Institutional flows have also displayed inconsistency. On October 8, U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds saw outflows totaling about $244 million, reflecting heightened caution or profit-taking by fund investors.

Given the current resistance and subdued demand, breaking through the upper range may remain challenging until institutional buying or spot demand increases meaningfully.
