Across the cryptocurrency industry, there are approximately 195 stablecoins supported by the US Dollar or other reserves. Tether (USDT) and Circle (USDC) control over 85% of the total stablecoin market value, which exceeds $212 billion. Despite this dominance, companies like Ripple Labs continue to strive to break this market stronghold.
Hoskinson’s acknowledgment of RLUSD’s mainnet launch is seen as a way to support the growth of competition within the sector. While uncertainty remains regarding how quickly RLUSD will compete with its biggest rivals, broad industry backing provides a solid starting point.
Will RLUSD Launch on the Cardano Network?
Ripple Labs has conducted beta tests of the RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and Ethereum 
$1,970 networks. The timeline for expanding the token beyond these two networks remains unclear, but there are indications of a potential launch on Cardano.
During this period, despite previous tensions between Hoskinson and the XRP community, his relationship with the ecosystem appears to be improving. Reports indicate that Hoskinson and Ripple’s CTO, David Schwartz, discussed the Midnight Network and XRP in November.
This situation, while retaining uncertainty regarding the future of both networks, indicates potential for collaboration. The global exchange rollout of Ripple Labs’ RLUSD stablecoin, coupled with the support from Cardano’s founder, could enable RLUSD to make a strong entrance into the crypto market. However, the coin’s performance and competition will ultimately determine its future success.
