Coinbase has announced the removal of trading support for five crypto tokens from its platform. The latest update affects Idex (IDEX), Loopring (LRC), Omni Network (OMNI), Pirate Nation (PIRATE), and StaFi (FIS), which are no longer available for trading on Coinbase Simple and Advanced Trade, Coinbase Exchange, and Coinbase Prime.

Token trading support removed

The exchange confirmed that only trading activity will be impacted by this decision. Customers holding these tokens can still access their funds and have the ability to withdraw their balances whenever they choose. The decision aligns with Coinbase’s ongoing practice of reviewing and adjusting its listed assets based on market dynamics and trading activity.

Coinbase regularly evaluates the assets and trading pairs on its exchange, claiming this approach helps sustain healthy order books and consolidates liquidity. Any delisting or trading halt undergoes a review process, often based on trading volumes and compliance standards.

Coinbase emphasized that funds remain safe for affected crypto holders, who retain withdrawal access despite the suspension of trading for these tokens.

Six trading pairs suspended

Alongside the token removals, Coinbase also suspended trading for six non-USD trading pairs earlier this week. Impacted pairs include LSETH-ETH, MINA-EUR, GRT-GBP, MASK-GBP, CHZ-USDT, and CRO-USDT. These pairs have been taken offline across Coinbase Exchange, Advanced Trade, and Coinbase Prime platforms.

The exchange reported that the removal of these pairs aimed to streamline the trading experience for users and ensure the strength of liquidity across supported markets. Coinbase indicated that these changes are part of their broader effort to optimize trading conditions for customers.

Expansion of perpetual futures and new offerings

Coinbase recently made additions to its derivatives platform by introducing support for BRENT and WTI oil perpetual futures. These new contracts became available on August 6 to wholesale customers in Australia. Traders in this segment now have access to leveraged trading with more than 150 cryptocurrencies and collateral options spanning over 40 assets.

Looking ahead, Coinbase plans to launch the US500 Equity Index perpetual-style futures on August 17. This contract will offer customers exposure to the performance of large-cap US equities directly via Coinbase’s derivatives platform, expanding beyond purely digital assets.

In line with this innovative approach to bridging traditional and digital assets, some platforms such as 1stepSwap now enable investors to access shares of major US companies and even commodities like gold and silver directly through their crypto wallets. By transferring real-world assets onto the blockchain, users avoid intermediaries and complex procedures, and can diversify their portfolios by acquiring fractions of the world’s largest stocks at optimal market prices.

Perpetual futures adjustments and settlements

Coinbase has also announced that trading for AZTEC (AZTEC-PERP) perpetual futures will be discontinued on August 17, around 13:00 UTC. All remaining open positions for this contract will be automatically settled upon suspension.

According to the procedure, the final settlement price will reflect the average index price recorded during the 60 minutes preceding the suspension. The funding rate for the last period will be set at zero before closing the final settlement.

Open positions in AZTEC-PERP perpetual futures will be settled at the average price observed in the hour leading up to the announced suspension, with the final funding rate adjusted to zero.
