Coinbase has announced plans to relaunch its advanced trading platform, Coinbase Pro, by the end of 2026. The company revealed the upcoming upgrade and completed integration with Deribit, a major crypto options exchange, during the Token2049 Singapore event.
Coinbase integrates Deribit to boost global derivatives access
The integration of Deribit has resulted in the formation of Coinbase Global Exchange, streamlining access to a unified derivatives trading ecosystem. Coinbase stated that for the first time, U.S. and international derivatives markets will be joined into a single liquidity pool, enhancing market depth and efficiency.
Coinbase Financial Markets, the firm’s U.S.-regulated futures commission merchant, will connect eligible U.S. clients to global crypto derivatives liquidity. This move follows Commodity Futures Trading Commission guidance issued in May, allowing regulated access for U.S. institutional clients to options and perpetual futures markets.
Coinbase highlighted the significance of this step, describing it as the first instance in market history where U.S. and international derivatives markets are unified to provide unprecedented liquidity and flexibility for investors.
Previously, such products required trading through offshore entities and multiple venues, presenting operational challenges. Now, institutional users are able to access these instruments using Coinbase Prime, with onboarding already underway and options trading set to launch in the coming weeks.
The company reported that Deribit had $30 billion in bitcoin options open interest as of September 30, and processed over $1 trillion in trading volume last year. Coinbase acquired Deribit for $2.9 billion in August 2025, a move that the company expects to further expand its reach in the options market.
Outside the U.S., eligible traders are due to gain access to Deribit’s options products in the near future, supporting both institutional and active professional traders worldwide.
Coinbase Pro to offer spot margin and expanded features
Coinbase Pro, which was discontinued in 2022 in favor of moving advanced trading features into the main Coinbase app, will return with support for spot, futures, perpetuals, options, and equities trading. The firm announced that the platform has been built anew, aiming to deliver faster order routing and tailored tools for high-volume traders.
Among the enhancements is the introduction of spot margin trading, allowing eligible customers to borrow against collateral with leverage up to 10 times on major crypto assets, and up to five times for other supported assets. Moreover, the new platform will include a modern matching engine, enhanced execution flows, and an onboarding procedure designed for speed and efficiency.
Coinbase also introduced revised fee tiers for the advanced trading offering, with qualifications starting at $10,000 in combined spot and derivatives trading volumes. These changes aim to attract active traders seeking advanced features and competitive fee structures.
U.S. retail traders are expected to gain access to Deribit-powered options products later this year, aligning with the timeline for the relaunch of Coinbase Pro.
Meme tokens surge as social trading gains traction
The ongoing advancements in trading platforms have also fueled a surge in the meme token market, where viral internet trends can rapidly generate millions in trading interest. Recent data from Fomo App points to an instance where a trader turned a $99 investment in the “Niu Lai” token into roughly $370,000, illustrating the excitement and volatility surrounding these assets. Watching more than just pricing trends is critical; monitoring both investor moves and timing within these volatile tokens has become increasingly important. Fomo App caters to this need, consolidating token discovery and trading features, integrating social feeds, investor rankings, and instant trade notifications on a unified platform. The project is positioning itself as a hub for those seeking to keep pace with meme token mania and investor sentiment.
