Restaking protocol EigenLayer has announced the details of the anticipated airdrop, resolving many mysteries for investors. The popular protocol’s token is particularly promising as crypto markets trend upwards. Airdrops, along with mass listings, typically bring significant valuations for tokens of such accepted ventures.
EigenLayer Airdrop
The airdrop is scheduled for May and will distribute 15% of the supply to stakers. The issuing body will be the Eigen Foundation. While the SEC is already moving against the Ethereum Foundation, the situation is risky, but the protocol has no alternative way to issue tokens. Some key details are as follows;
- Token entitlements can be claimed from the Foundation’s website on May 10th.
- When launched, the supply will be 1.67 billion tokens.
- The Foundation has allocated 45% of the tokens to its own community.
- Stakers, community initiatives, and an ecosystem development budget have been allocated 45% of the supply, distributed equally at 15% each.
- Investors are allocated 29.5% of the tokens, while early adopters of the protocol will receive 25.5%. There is a three-year lock-up period with the first year being fully locked. Monthly unlocking of 4% will occur over two years.
- A whitepaper has been published explaining the structure of the Eigen token and how it will fit into the EigenLayer ecosystem.
- When the Eigen token is launched, users will be able to stake the token to secure a data availability layer called EigenDA.
