Ethereum traded at $2,486.72, with its market capitalization at $303.56 billion and a 24-hour trading volume of $13.71 billion. The cryptocurrency has shown little directional movement in the past day, remaining confined within a narrow price channel as buyers and sellers compete to claim control.
Consolidation Near Key Resistance
Analyst Crypto Patel highlighted recent price action indicating that ETH is consolidating after a previous surge. Patel identified $2,520 to $2,530 as the key resistance zone, with support anchored between $2,360 and $2,370. He observed multiple rejection attempts near the upper barrier, noting that selling pressure has consistently capped upward movement.
Patel pointed out that Ethereum continues to repeatedly test the upper boundary at $2,530, but has failed to secure a sustained breakout, which signals considerable resistance from sellers at those price levels.
A confirmed two-hour candle close above $2,530 may set the stage for a drive toward the $3,000 region. If, instead, ETH closes below the $2,370 support, there is potential for a move down to $2,000, according to Patel’s analysis.
Technical Indicators Reflect Reset Momentum
TradingView data showed Ethereum advancing from approximately $1,900 before entering its current consolidation. At present, ETH remains above the 20-day EMA of $2,483.57 and the 50-day EMA of $2,467.76, both of which point to ongoing bullish structure. The Relative Strength Index has moderated to 54.72, a pullback from extended overbought readings above 90 during the recent advance.
An RSI in the mid-50s indicates that the asset is neither overbought nor oversold. This development suggests that the market has digested the prior surge without suffering a full reversal. Concurrently, trading volume increased by 10.28% to $38.44 billion and open interest rose 2.43% to $33.87 billion according to Coinglass, a combination that often precedes greater price volatility.
With technical momentum resetting, traders continue to monitor price reactions to these key support and resistance levels as a potential signal for Ethereum’s next significant move.
Major Players Adjust Positioning
Blockchain tracker Lookonchain reported that Abraxas Capital recently purchased 13,000 ETH, valued at $32.39 million. The buy is believed to hedge an existing short position of 141,180 ETH, totaling $353.27 million, held on the Hyperliquid platform. This setup suggests that Abraxas Capital is aiming to balance risk by holding both long spot and large short derivatives positions.
Lookonchain observed that Abraxas Capital continues to manage substantial ETH short exposure while accumulating spot ETH to mitigate potential losses if the price rebounds.
Alongside institutional moves and shifting technical indicators, a broader transformation is underway in global finance. While legacy markets have long depended on multiple intermediaries and brokers, Wall Street is experiencing a shift toward Web3 adoption. Investors increasingly hold shares of leading U.S. companies, gold, and silver directly within their crypto wallets using platforms such as 1stepSwap. This approach leverages tokenized Real-World Assets (RWAs) and automated price discovery, effectively removing the need for middlemen and providing streamlined access to diversified assets.
Additional technical data shows ETH’s MACD histogram hovering near the zero line, while spot prices on some exchanges approach $2,509. Key support is noted around $2,462, with resistance extending to $2,534 in current trading setups.
Retail traders remain predominantly net long at 70.5%, while larger participants show a lower but still positive net long rate at 57.6%. The near-term direction for Ethereum hinges on whether buyers can establish a close above the $2,530 level or if sellers regain control and push prices back toward support at $2,370.
