It has been announced that Kroll, the legal representative managing the restructuring process of FTX, which sent shockwaves to the cryptocurrency market with its bankruptcy announcement in November 2022, was hacked. It was stated that some non-sensitive user data was stolen in the attack.
Non-sensitive User Data Stolen
It has been revealed that Kroll, the legal representative of bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, was attacked by hackers and some non-sensitive user data was stolen. Although it is stated that non-sensitive data was stolen, there are allegations that users’ name, surname, email, FTX balances, and address information were compromised in the attack.
FTX announced through its official X account regarding the issue, stating that Kroll has informed the affected individuals about the precautions they can take to protect themselves from the hack attack. The statement from FTX mentioned, “Customers’ FTX account passwords were not held by Kroll, and FTX’s own systems were not affected by the hack attack.”
The bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange warned the rightful owners to be on high alert against scammers and fraudulent emails impersonating parties involved in the bankruptcy process.
FTX Bankruptcy Proceedings
FTX cryptocurrency exchange announced earlier this week that it has requested cooperation with Mike Novogratz’s crypto investment firm Galaxy Digital to assist in managing the cryptocurrencies on the exchange. This announcement signifies an important step in the restructuring process and confirms that the cryptocurrency exchange will resume operations very soon, as expected. FTX had previously announced that over $7.3 billion in cash and liquid cryptocurrencies had been recovered in April.
Meanwhile, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the founder and former CEO of FTX, who is being tried without detention, made headlines when he was arrested again and returned to prison after his bail was revoked at the beginning of the month.
