With U.S. markets set to close for a holiday tomorrow, anticipation had been building for unexpected moves on the geopolitical front today. However, news broke that negotiations were scheduled to continue on Tuesday, reducing speculation of any imminent surprises. Still, CBS sources suggest last week’s high-level meeting between Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was more significant than it first appeared. As this new week begins, developments point to escalating risks ahead.

Escalation Drives Down Bitcoin and Other Cryptos

Mounting regional tensions are undermining risk appetite worldwide, and the impact on Bitcoin has been immediate and severe. Earlier today, Bitcoin briefly tested the $71,000 mark but has since slipped below crucial support at $69,000. So far, attempts to surpass the $72,000 threshold have failed, and the loss of support levels has triggered further declines. Ethereum tumbled beneath $2,000, and a broad range of altcoins suffered losses of around five percent.

CBS Cites Trump Backing for Israel’s Iran Stance

Citing two confidential sources, CBS reported a notable leak:

“Trump conveyed to Netanyahu that he would support Israeli strikes targeting Iran’s ballistic missile program.”

This statement signals that the U.S. may now be prepared to give Netanyahu explicit orders to strike or, alternatively, to shelve negotiations entirely to show its resolve. Indirect talks are set to resume in Oman on Tuesday, and Trump previously stated that Iran had already been informed of a deadline. Meanwhile, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has twice remarked in the past month that “Iranian officials are funneling money abroad, they know what’s coming, and we’re tracking these movements,” underlining the urgency of the situation.

Crypto market observers are closely watching these geopolitical moves. While the latest downturn has rattled nerves, some analysts remain optimistic. Crypto Capo addressed the market’s steep Sunday drop, expressing confidence that this loss of momentum would be short-lived and warning traders not to be swayed by weekend volatility;

“Never trust the Sunday dips. I expect the uptrend to resume shortly and anticipate a bullish week ahead. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.” – Crypto Capo

This perspective suggests the current market turbulence may not signal a longer-term reversal, cautioning investors against making hasty moves based solely on weekend trading patterns. Nevertheless, the backdrop of surging regional tensions continues to cast a shadow over market sentiment.

As negotiations in Oman loom, the crypto market remains sensitive to potential flashpoints. The next moves from Washington and Tel Aviv could sway not just diplomatic outcomes but major financial markers like Bitcoin and other digital assets.

For now, the delicate balance between diplomacy and the growing threat of open conflict ensures that volatility will persist. Market observers are bracing for further surprises as world leaders reconvene to hammer out solutions—or escalate confrontation—over the coming days.
