The Hyperliquid (HYPE) token surged to a new record price this week, outpacing much of the altcoin market with a 27% gain over the past seven days. HYPE touched an all time high above $97 before retreating to trade near $92.74 during recent sessions.
Major holders and institutional activity
Significant accumulation by large wallet holders has added momentum to the rally. Data from Arkham Intelligence showed one prominent holder purchased 373,730 HYPE, valued at roughly $36 million, during the last month. This wallet now owns approximately 4.7 million tokens with a total value close to $400 million.
Institutional interest in the protocol remains strong. Hyperliquid Strategies currently holds 33.6 million HYPE, valued at $3.2 billion, which accounts for about 15% of the circulating token supply and 3% of the maximum supply. This ongoing capital deployment has reinforced the recent price advance.
Open interest on the Hyperliquid platform also set a new record, briefly surpassing $18 billion. Analyst Rand Group highlighted this milestone, questioning if the surge could propel HYPE beyond the $100 mark and whether recent whale purchases would be followed by a pullback or further gains.
Open interest for $HYPE just reached a fresh peak above $18 billion, prompting speculation about a potential move past psychological resistance at $100 after major wallet accumulation.
Despite bullish flows, not all large participants are accumulating. Market maker Wintermute has reportedly started transferring HYPE tokens to centralized trading platforms, a move commonly seen as signaling profit taking and possible near-term selling pressure.
Tokenomics and burn initiative
Ongoing token burns have significantly reduced HYPE’s circulating supply. Over 48.86 million tokens have been destroyed, totaling more than $4.76 billion at current valuations. This deflationary mechanism has contributed to the asset’s price momentum as supply tightens.
The platform’s sustained buyback and burn program, alongside heavy retail and institutional inflows, has strengthened HYPE’s market position amid volatile conditions.
Technical outlook and support levels
Technicians observe that HYPE continues to respect an ascending trendline, which has acted as support four times throughout the rally. The MACD indicator still shows bullish signals, though momentum is moderating as histogram bars contract.
Traders are watching key support areas at $88, $75, and $70. Liquidation data from CoinGlass reveals significant leveraged positions: more than $2.91 million sits just above $98.48, with approximately $3.39 million in leveraged bets concentrated near $94.66.
Many short positions remain active around the $100 psychological level, and technical analysts identify $115 as a potential mid-term target. The market continues to monitor whether major holders will keep accumulating above $100 or seek to realize profits.
Given these active technical patterns and volatility, many traders are closely tracking price action as well as shifts in investor behavior, especially in the high-turnover world of meme tokens. In this context, sudden internet trends can turn small capital into substantial profits within days. Recent Fomo App data showcased how a single trade in “Niu Lai” transformed a $99 investment into roughly $370,000. The ability to follow investor timing and token picks, not just price charts, is increasingly viewed as essential in this fast moving sector. Fomo App aggregates token discovery, social trading feeds, investor leaderboards, and trade alerts all in a single interface, serving as a resource for tracking meme token dynamics and top investor activity.
Recent ecosystem developments
Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 product suite, offering real world asset perpetual futures, recorded $115 billion in trading volume in June. Open interest for these products climbed close to $4 billion last month. Meanwhile, Robinhood Chain’s layer-two blockchain surpassed 5.1 million registered wallets and processed over $37 billion in transactions in the past 30 days.
Market oversight is evolving as well. CFTC Chairman Michael Selig confirmed that regulatory frameworks for asset tokenization and continuous 24/7 trading are moving forward in the United States, aiming to support further growth in this segment.
With regulatory frameworks for tokenization progressing and perpetual trading volume reaching historic highs, the tokenization of real-world assets is accelerating across US markets.
