Infosys has formed a strategic partnership with Chainlink to broaden institutional access to onchain financial infrastructure. The collaboration will draw on Infosys’ expertise in financial services technology and consulting, integrated with Chainlink’s blockchain solutions, in order to deliver interoperability, compliance, and data verification capabilities for enterprise clients.

1.7 Billion Accounts Gain Potential Onchain Access

Infosys indicated that the partnership can connect its established financial-services network, anchored by the Finacle banking platform, to Chainlink’s infrastructure for institutional blockchain use cases. Finacle currently supports more than 1.7 billion accounts, according to Infosys, offering a significant foundation for the rollout of digital asset and tokenization services.

The joint initiative is expected to focus on tokenized assets, modernized payments and settlement systems, interoperable financial-market infrastructure, and broader applications for digital assets. Infosys and Chainlink plan to pursue joint customer programs and market strategies, aiming to enable both their teams and clients with practical skills and opportunities in tokenization and onchain finance.

Standardization and Six Institutional Blockchain Tools

As part of the partnership, Infosys and Chainlink will standardize the use of several Chainlink solutions relevant to institutional finance. These tools include CCIP (Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol), the Chainlink Runtime Environment, the Automated Compliance Engine, Proof of Reserve, Data Streams, and Data Feeds. Each service supports critical aspects of institutional blockchain infrastructure, such as cross-chain messaging, data validation, and regulatory compliance.

Mini dictionary: CCIP (Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol) is a Chainlink-developed protocol designed to enable secure messaging and value transfer between different blockchains, supporting both public and private network interactions in financial markets.

These solutions are intended to help facilitate robust onchain operations for banks, asset managers, and other institutional actors seeking to leverage blockchain efficiencies across different networks.

Expanding Institutional Onchain Finance

The focus on interoperability aligns with a wider trend among financial organizations to develop tokenized infrastructure that extends beyond single blockchain networks. Chainlink stated that its platform has facilitated tens of trillions of dollars in transaction value and is currently used by firms and market infrastructures such as Swift, Euroclear, Mastercard, Fidelity International, and UBS.

Infosys has previously conducted research on cross-chain settlement, referencing a demonstration involving Ondo Finance, J.P. Morgan, and Chainlink that featured delivery-versus-payment for tokenized US Treasury funds processed across both public and permissioned blockchain networks.

Mini dictionary: Ondo Finance is a decentralized finance platform that enables institutional-grade asset tokenization and issuance of tokenized US Treasuries and bonds for onchain trading and settlement.

Such transactions illustrate how interoperability-focused tools could help unify fragmented financial platforms through secure, verifiable data exchange.

Infosys pointed out that connecting the company’s financial infrastructure with Chainlink solutions brings onchain finance within reach of over 1.7 billion accounts, supporting tokenized assets, settlement, and interoperable market applications on a large scale.

Market Impact and Latest Institutional Moves

LINK, Chainlink’s native token, saw its price rise to $13.17 on September 21, up from $11.38 on September 17. This marks a gain of 15.7% in four days. On September 22, CoinGecko data showed LINK’s market capitalization close to $9.86 billion, with daily trading volume reaching approximately $756.4 million.

The surge in LINK price coincided with several institutional developments. On September 18, Bitwise, a US-based asset manager specializing in crypto funds, submitted a preliminary prospectus for the Bitwise LINK ETF. If approved, this product would provide regulated exposure to LINK via a US-listed exchange-traded fund. The prospectus remains subject to regulatory review.

Chainlink’s growing adoption among major financial institutions and infrastructure providers has strengthened LINK’s position in the digital asset sector, spurring renewed market interest and institutional investment activity.
