According to data released today by Santiment, Internet Computer (ICP) has surpassed Cardano (ADA) in terms of developer activity. Developer activity measures the total amount of work delivered by developers of any cryptocurrency project to their public GitHub repositories.
How Is Developer Activity Measured in Cryptocurrencies?
One way to measure developer activity is by the number of “commits” in the repository. Accordingly, a commit refers to a record of any change made in the repository. However, there is a problem with this method. The issue lies in the transferability of commits. For example, if a cryptocurrency project undergoes a hard fork, this means that the commits from the original project are naturally transferred to the new one.
As seen in the table, Internet Computer was the number one cryptocurrency last month in terms of developer activity, recording approximately 467 events. Previously, the cryptocurrency’s developer activity was extremely low. Therefore, it seems that developers have significantly increased their output. As a result of this development, it is clear that the altcoin ICP has left behind significant projects like Cardano and Polkadot.
The cryptocurrency Ethereum also appears to have improved its position this time. However, the second-largest digital asset by market value has only managed to jump from tenth to ninth place.
