Laser Digital completes Japan registration

Crypto exchange Bitrue drew attention to a recent development outlined by crypto news outlet BSCN, noting that Laser Digital Japan has officially registered as a crypto asset exchange service provider with Japanese regulators. This registration marks an important milestone allowing the firm to operate legally within Japan’s tightly regulated cryptocurrency industry.

With the registration now complete, Laser Digital Japan aims to build new infrastructure to support virtual asset service providers and institutional investors. Bitrue emphasized the importance of this step on X, summarizing, “$XRP and $SHIB are coming to Japan,” and citing BSCN’s coverage of Laser Digital’s future plans.

BSCN reported that Laser Digital Japan’s initial service offering will support six digital assets: Ethereum, XRP, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and Shiba Inu. The company intends to facilitate improved liquidity and institutional access to these cryptocurrencies.

BSCN indicated that XRP and SHIB are among the first batch of tokens supported by Laser Digital Japan, as the company begins offering liquidity and infrastructure services to other market participants in the country.

XRP and SHIB set for broader institutional access

The inclusion of both XRP and Shiba Inu in Laser Digital’s infrastructure plans could enhance their visibility among regulated Japanese virtual asset service providers. BSCN clarified that these assets may not instantly become available on all Japanese crypto trading platforms, but the infrastructure could pave the way for greater market access in the future as other service providers adopt them.

For XRP, the move is seen as a potential avenue for further market expansion, especially if Japanese institutions and local exchanges integrate Laser Digital’s offerings. SHIB, similarly, could benefit as additional authorized platforms in Japan make use of the infrastructure to provide access to the token.

Focus on institutional trading and liquidity

Laser Digital plans to launch a range of institutional trading services in Japan as part of its strategy. With the registration approved, the company will look to increase professional and institutional access to key cryptocurrencies, including XRP and SHIB.

Nomura Holdings’ involvement is seen as a strong endorsement for the development of institutional-grade digital asset services in Japan. By improving market infrastructure and providing liquidity solutions for virtual asset service providers, Laser Digital could play a significant role in growing Japan’s cryptocurrency market.

Rather than solely focusing on retail trading, Laser Digital’s efforts target a broader ecosystem of market participants, aiming to enhance the overall structure and depth of the digital asset sector within the country.

Laser Digital’s expansion into Japan’s regulated market could provide a framework for wider institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies such as XRP and SHIB, aligning with the firm’s emphasis on liquidity and infrastructure rather than direct retail sales.

The plans laid out by Laser Digital may lead to increased access and liquidity for XRP and SHIB if local service providers leverage the new infrastructure in their platforms.
