ConsenSys has completed the launch of Linea, an Ethereum scaling solution, by onboarding over 150 partners and establishing more than 26 million Ethereum bridges. Linea went live with specific partners who joined its mainnet in July 2023, enabling developers to migrate their existing decentralized applications from Ethereum’s mainnet or other scaling solutions.
A Breath of Fresh Air from Linea
Declan Fox, Senior Product Manager at Linea, emphasized the importance of zero-knowledge rollups (ZK-rollups) in the functioning of the Ethereum ecosystem as Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin develops the Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge (zk-SNARK) technology.
“Bytecode-compatible zkEVMs like Linea provide stronger security guarantees than existing scaling solutions and preserve the full network effects of the EVM, the most widely adopted smart contract execution environment.”
According to Fox, Linea’s mainnet creates a capital-efficient environment by facilitating the establishment of trustless bridges between Ethereum and Layer-2 within minutes, connecting liquidity to rollups. Linea also addresses the disadvantages of optimistic roll-up solutions with a seven-day withdrawal confirmation period.
“Just as countries with no currency controls are more competitive in financial markets, zkEVM solutions will soon outperform optimistic solutions in terms of user and liquidity adoption.”

Fox also highlighted the “unlimited” potential of the Linea ecosystem, stating that ZK-rollup technology reflects lower costs, higher efficiency, and Ethereum-based security capabilities while providing a capital-efficient bridge to the Layer-1 mainnet.
Linea also integrates with ConsenSys’ browser-based MetaMask wallet, allowing DApps on the network to reach millions of users across the ecosystem. In the public release, Linea’s ERC-20 token bridge was implemented, enabling the bridging and accessibility of ERC-20 tokens such as stablecoins, liquid staked Ethereum assets, and meme coins through the scaling solution.
