Leading cryptocurrency wallet MetaMask has officially launched its long-awaited multichain account feature. Users can now manage Ethereum
$3,031, EVM-compatible networks, and Solana
$131 addresses through a single account. The wallet has also announced that Bitcoin
$92,177 support will be added soon, enabling users to control their assets from one place without needing to switch between multiple addresses and networks.
MetaMask’s Historic Account Model Shift
Once known as an Ethereum-based wallet, MetaMask has transitioned from the “one account = one address” model to a multichain structure. The new system automatically activates with version 7.57 on mobile and 13.5 on the browser extension, requiring no user intervention. A single MetaMask account can now simultaneously accommodate Ethereum, EVM Layer-2 networks, and Solana addresses.
MetaMask has confirmed that old addresses remain accessible. Previously created EVM and Solana addresses will be matched based on their creation time. If a user has more Solana addresses than EVM addresses, new EVM addresses will be automatically generated to match the Solana names.

The new system is based on the BIP-44 standard, which allows multiple accounts to be organized systematically from a single recovery phrase. However, Solana support for hardware wallets has not yet been implemented, restricting these devices to EVM networks only.
Anticipation Builds for MASK Coin Launch
Alongside MetaMask’s transition to multichain accounts, speculation about the launch of a native coin called MASK has resurfaced. Rumors intensified following the appearance of a website on Monday, initially displaying a password-protected Vercel Authenticator page but now redirecting to MetaMask’s official homepage.
The idea of a coin within the MetaMask ecosystem, developed by Consensys, has been discussed for some time. Consensys CEO Joe Lubin recently indicated to The Block that the MASK coin might be released earlier than anticipated. He also mentioned that Consensys is actively working on the coin and that other movements within the ecosystem could hint at the impending launch.
