Japanese investment firm Metaplanet continues its aggressive strategy in acquiring Bitcoin $94,429, recently purchasing an additional 135 BTC for $12.9 million. This latest investment brings Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings to an impressive 2,235 BTC. The company identifies Bitcoin accumulation as a core business strategy, setting a target to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025.
Metaplanet’s Bitcoin Accumulation Grows
Metaplanet is increasingly adopting Bitcoin as a digital reserve asset. In its latest investment, the company spent 1.9 billion Japanese yen ($12.9 million) to acquire 135 BTC, with purchases averaging around 14.3 million Japanese yen ($95,951) each.

At the end of last year, the company’s Bitcoin holdings were 1,761 BTC, which had decreased to 141 BTC by June 2024. With the recent purchases, the total has surged to 2,235 BTC. Metaplanet continues to make aggressive acquisitions as part of its Bitcoin accumulation strategy announced in April.
In December, the company officially integrated its Bitcoin investment strategy as a primary business line. Metaplanet aims to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026. This strategy is attracting increased interest in Bitcoin from numerous institutional investors globally.
Metaplanet Stocks Fluctuate with Bitcoin Investments
Metaplanet’s Bitcoin investments have also caused fluctuations in the performance of its stock. After the latest Bitcoin purchase, the company’s shares traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell by 1.3% in the morning hours. However, a long-term upward trend is still ongoing.
Since the beginning of the year, the company’s stock price has increased by 67.5%. Over the past year, the total increase in stock value has reached 233.7%. According to Google Finance data, Metaplanet shares continue trading in the afternoon.
Metaplanet’s Bitcoin accumulation strategy is viewed as a significant step in bolstering corporate investor interest in the cryptocurrency market. The acceptance of decentralized assets like Bitcoin is particularly noteworthy in a country with strong traditional finance like Japan.
