Ripple has gained notable attention on Wall Street after a recent feature in the Wall Street Journal examined its growing presence across the cryptocurrency and finance sectors. The report quoted industry sources who pointed to Ripple’s expansion into areas such as stablecoins, digital asset custody, and swap financing, positioning the company as a significant new participant in markets traditionally dominated by established financial institutions.
Ripple’s move into prime brokerage
Ripple’s recent $1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road has placed it squarely in competition with traditional Wall Street banks. This deal enables Ripple to offer prime brokerage services and earn fees on leveraged equity trades, signaling a substantial pivot toward institutional markets. With this shift, Ripple now operates alongside global financial giants when it comes to providing asset management and broker services to large clients.
Further institutional adoption appeared when Paxos integrated support for XRP, allowing its partners to access the token through a regulated platform known in the traditional finance sector. XRP currently exists in 8.1 million wallets, with the network supporting a market capitalization of approximately $95 billion.
Institutional developments and network growth
Ripple Custody has introduced support for the Canton Network, providing institutions with the capability to hold and transfer Canton assets while managing other digital assets in parallel. In a related move, South Korea’s Merit Securities has partnered with Ripple as it explores blockchain-based asset tokenization for the country’s capital markets. Digital Asset Investor, a prominent industry commentator, referenced XRP’s role as a key liquidity pair on the XRP Ledger in the context of these developments.
Technical resistance and price outlook
Price action in XRP remains closely watched. Technical analysts have highlighted the $1.49 mark as the key breakout level for XRP, based on patterns observed in the market. At the time of the analysis, XRP traded at $1.39, just below this resistance point. Digital Asset Investor emphasized that the digital asset was approaching a major move and described the market as poised for rapid shifts if resistance breaks.
Technical experts maintained that overcoming resistance at $1.49 could trigger a significant upward move in XRP, with the asset hovering just below this critical level.
Tokenization and wider ecosystem activity
Industry leaders also pointed to the rising importance of real-world asset tokenization in driving demand for networks like the XRP Ledger. A director from Charles Schwab stated that tokenization supports increased demand for native tokens that underpin such ecosystems, regardless of prevailing Bitcoin trends. Matt Hougan of Bitwise described current developments as “the dawn of the institutional era,” a sentiment echoed by Digital Asset Investor, who sees XRP playing a central role.
Market observers have noted that tracking investor flows alongside traditional price analysis is now vital in the evolving digital asset landscape. In the meme token sector, a single trend can translate into millions in transaction volume within days, as illustrated by Fomo App’s data on a “Niu Lai” trade that turned $99 into roughly $370,000. Monitoring not just price but also trade timing and token selection is essential for market participants today. Fomo App aims to streamline this process by merging token discovery with trading, offering features such as social feeds, investor rankings, and real-time trade notifications for those following meme tokens and broader investor activity.
Tokenization on the XRP Ledger has resulted in strong liquidity flows, with the network currently leading in real-world asset net movements among all blockchains so far this year.
