Solana‘s tokenized stock market has reached a new record, with 1.5 million addresses now holding tokenized equities on the network. This represents a fivefold increase since August, even as the price of SOL has hovered near $100 after several weeks of selling pressure across the cryptocurrency sector.
Tokenized equity adoption surges on Solana
The Solana network reported this significant milestone on October 26. While 1.5 million addresses now hold tokenized stocks, this figure does not equate to 1.5 million verified individuals, but rather to unique wallet addresses—many of which may be controlled by the same users or by automated systems.
At the time of the announcement, SOL was trading around $101, down from approximately $124 at the start of October. This trend highlights a growing separation between adoption of tokenized equities and direct demand for Solana’s native token.
The number of tokenized stock holding addresses grew sharply from about 300,000 in August to 1.5 million by late October. The growth accelerated in September, when the network surpassed one million holding addresses as tokenized equity trading volume reached $4.4 billion and outstanding tokenized equities were valued near $684 million.
Multiple product launches have contributed to the expansion, including Securitize’s rollout of tokenized Apple, Nvidia, and Tesla shares for eligible US investors. Ondo Finance also introduced more than 200 tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds to the Solana ecosystem.
Reward programs and memecoin trading fuel network activity
According to a Blockworks investigation published October 14, reward campaigns accounted for much of the recent activity. The report found that approximately $31 million in tokenized equities were distributed to more than 360,000 wallets between August 3 and October 11.
Nearly 80% of addresses receiving these rewards had no prior experience buying tokenized stocks, and among first-time recipients, over 80% quickly sold or transferred their tokens. Only around 2% eventually made independent purchases of tokenized equities after receiving rewards.
Memecoin trading denominated in tokenized stocks generated $1.76 billion in volume between September 1 and October 11, accounting for 31.5% of all tokenized equity trading tracked on decentralized platforms during that time.
Trading platforms such as StonkFun and Pump have enabled users to exchange memecoins using tokenized stock pairs, adding to the network’s overall trading activity. The surge in volume does not necessarily indicate genuine demand from traditional equity investors, but it does show that tokenized stocks are becoming increasingly integrated into Solana’s broader trading ecosystem.
SOL price movement diverges from tokenized stock growth
SOL price has not mirrored the rise in tokenized stock activity. Most tokenized equity products on Solana support purchases with USDC and other stablecoins. While SOL is still needed for transaction fees, users are not required to buy large amounts of SOL to trade tokenized equities.
As a result, the surge in tokenized stock trading volumes has not produced a corresponding jump in SOL buying. Recent ETF withdrawals have further influenced demand for SOL, with US-based funds seeing $24.8 million in outflows in the week ending October 9, ending a 14-week streak of inflows.
The continued expansion of tokenized equities on Solana highlights the network’s growing role in on-chain finance, but points to the need for nuanced interpretation of wallet address growth and its actual impact on SOL demand.
The discrepancy between tokenized stock activity and SOL price movement is not a recent development. Prior episodes of strong network growth have also coincided with price weakness in SOL, underscoring the complexity of the demand dynamics surrounding blockchain-based equities.
As technical details and shifting market conditions make portfolio tracking more challenging, many traders now look for consolidated solutions. In a market where a single Fed decision or a sudden altcoin listing can change everything in seconds, jumping between different apps for charts, news, and portfolio tracking is costing investors money. Smart traders are now utilizing privacy-first tools like CryptoAppsy to consolidate everything. Without even the hassle of creating an account, you get real-time charts, smart price alerts, coin-specific news, and critical macro data all on one screen.
The tokenized equity sector continues to expand across multiple blockchains, positioning Solana as an increasingly important platform for financial infrastructure, even as its native token faces broader market challenges.
