TON has formed a partnership with the interoperability protocol LayerZero, enabling users to transfer funds across different ecosystems. This collaboration comes with expectations of increased usage and rising transaction fees for both parties involved.
Ease of Transactions Between Blockchains
In the initial implementation, TON will integrate with a total of 12 blockchains, including Ethereum $1,946, Tron, and Solana
$135. Users will be able to transfer stablecoins through Stargate, the largest digital bridge, which has reportedly facilitated transactions worth billions of dollars last month.
LayerZero’s multi-chain liquidity aims to reduce price slippage and the risk of failure during transactions by consolidating locked funds from different blockchains. The dispersion of liquidity across multiple blockchains and layer two networks alleviates concerns regarding larger transactions, providing a more stable environment.
Benefits Offered to Developers
Additionally, crypto asset companies Tether and Ethena will benefit from the integration. Ethena’s leading asset, USDe, is set to become active on TON, while Tether’s new stablecoin, USDT0, will enable transactions across TON, Tron, Ethereum, Celo, and Arbitrum. These developments allow developers to distribute tokens across all LayerZero networks through a single contract.
Originating in 2018, TON was initially developed within the messaging application Telegram. The project has been supported by Telegram and utilized as a specialized blockchain within the app’s mini-app ecosystem.
“TON is one of the most exciting ecosystems today. The exclusive partnership with Telegram has provided access to nearly a billion users.” – Bryan Pellegrino, LayerZero CEO
The partnership is evaluated based on the goals of facilitating transaction ease and alleviating liquidity issues between blockchains. Inter-protocol integration could contribute to the technological infrastructure of the sector. While the collaboration is expected to present new opportunities for users and developers, it may also reflect in the competitive market landscape.
