These advanced analytical tools, according to the company, allow investigators to conduct searches using natural language, eliminating the need for deep technical expertise.

TRM Labs revealed that its new AI assistants have been integrated into the TRM Forensics platform and are now available to institutions. Beyond law enforcement, the company is also opening these services up to cryptocurrency firms and financial organizations. The AI assistants are designed to demystify complex blockchain analyses, enabling users—including investigators—to handle cases by simply asking questions in plain language, instead of wrestling with sophisticated technical processes. This means investigators can initiate the tracking of financial flows without having to master the intricacies of blockchain technology.

The company emphasized that this innovation could dramatically speed up workflows, especially in urgent cases where time is critical. TRM Labs explained that the platform translates natural language requests into complex analytical steps, ultimately enhancing investigative teams’ efficiency across a wide array of blockchain networks.

Ari Redbord, who leads TRM Labs’ legal and government affairs division, underscored the mounting complexity facing law enforcement as cases intensify in both depth and number. Redbord pointed out that staffing increases alone cannot keep pace with the growing workload, as investigators often have to work simultaneously across multiple blockchains and jurisdictions.

“Every day, we see that the number of cases is outpacing the number of staff. Researchers have to handle multiple blockchains and navigate diverse legal frameworks at the same time,” Redbord stated.

TRM Labs’ data shows a significant surge in digital fraud and related criminal activities, fueled by the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. The firm reported that fraud and scams leveraging AI, including deepfakes, have risen by 500 percent. Redbord highlighted how the evolution of deepfake technology and other AI-driven methods is providing criminals with tools to operate faster and with increased sophistication.

Analysis from TRM Labs indicates that last year alone, illicit cryptocurrency transactions reached a staggering volume of $158 billion. This figure sheds light on the scale of criminal activity affecting the crypto asset markets and shows the growing challenge facing authorities worldwide.

New AI-powered tools are anticipated to enhance law enforcement’s ability to combat crime more rapidly and effectively. According to the company, these technologies have the potential to play a pivotal role in advancing the capabilities of legal and regulatory processes concerning digital assets.
