The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has advanced its interoperability capabilities through a new integration with Axelar Network, activating native cross-chain transfers for digital assets. This development is designed to connect XRPL more seamlessly with a broader blockchain ecosystem and enable a wider range of decentralized finance (DeFi) activities.

Axelar integration expands access to digital assets

Through this partnership, both the XRP Ledger and its EVM-compatible XRPL Sidechain are now accessible on the Axelar App. Users are able to move a range of supported assets—such as XRP, SHx, USDf, SOIL, WETH, WBTC, mBTC, mTBILL and mXRP—across multiple blockchains with significantly reduced friction.

The XRP Ledger Foundation highlighted that the update allows users to transfer assets cross-chain and settle those transactions within seconds directly on the XRP Ledger. This approach addresses longstanding challenges in blockchain interoperability, making the movement of assets not only quicker but also more secure.

Tokens can now move securely between different blockchains, expanding liquidity, unlocking new DeFi opportunities, and providing developers with the ability to interact with assets across an array of networks.

Projects such as Axelar offer secure infrastructure for cross-chain transactions, facilitating broader accessibility to DeFi platforms and tools. In response to the growing demand for integrated digital asset management, platforms like CryptoAppsy provide investors with a unified view of their holdings, real-time pricing, advanced charts, and customized portfolio tracking—all on one screen. The inclusion of instant price alert features, coin-specific news filters, and early notifications for new altcoin listings enables users to closely monitor XRPL developments alongside macroeconomic indicators like Fed interest rates, helping them stay ahead of market trends.

Ripple and XRPL ecosystem expand beyond payments

Ripple and the wider XRPL ecosystem continue to broaden their focus from payment facilitation to enhanced capital markets activity. Ripple recently announced new investments in ZILO and Licuido, both of which aim to develop capital market use cases on the XRP Ledger.

These moves follow the tokenization of Aviva Investors’ U.S. Dollar Liquidity Fund on XRPL, underscoring the network’s growing role in digital asset management. Ripple President Monica Long noted that financial institutions are transitioning from experimental testing to fully-fledged production deployments within the industry. She reiterated Ripple’s intention to supply the full infrastructure stack for tokenized transactions on the XRP Ledger.

Ripple aims to support the entire infrastructure for tokenized assets on the XRP Ledger, reflecting the industry’s shift toward operational deployment by financial institutions.

Ongoing infrastructure and development initiatives

Across the broader XRPL landscape, ongoing infrastructure and development initiatives have continued to emerge. The XRP Ledger Foundation recently partnered with Ankr to enhance the global distribution of XRPL nodes, promoting a more robust and geographically diverse network.

In addition, the foundation is cooperating with VS1 Finance to create an open-source reference application for lending on XRPL, aiming to support further decentralized financial services.

XRPL developers are currently preparing for the forthcoming xrpld 3.3.0 release. XRP Ledger Operations confirmed that all dUNL validators have already upgraded to XRPL 3.2.1, paving the way for continued technical advancements and greater adoption across integrated networks.
