XRP has experienced a notable uptick in on-chain activity, as daily payment volume on the XRP Ledger surpassed 1.1 billion XRP. This jump may provide the digital asset with additional momentum amid ongoing efforts to recover from recent price declines.
Payment volume and transaction activity surge
Recent data shows XRP Ledger payment volume in September reached approximately 1.16 billion XRP, far exceeding the 30-day average of 494.6 million XRP. This means the latest payment flow is more than double the typical monthly figure seen on the network.
Alongside the surge in transferred value, broader metrics also reflected increased network activity. Successful transactions rose by 11.2% to 1.5 million, while the total number of transactions recorded on the XRP Ledger climbed 23.9% to 2.2 million. The network also registered 757,400 payments and 18,700 active accounts, representing a 21.5% increase in active users participating in recent activity. Furthermore, transactions per ledger grew by 24.1% in the same period.

User activity trends and network dynamics
Despite a rise in active accounts over the recent period, the overall number of active participants on the XRP Ledger fell by 17.3% to 155,300. This inconsistency suggests that the spike in payment flow may not reflect broad-based user adoption. Instead, some of the increased volume could result from larger or more frequent transfers among existing participants rather than a significant influx of new users.
XRP price and technical resistance
The increased activity arrives at a pivotal time for XRP’s market performance. After a sharp pullback from the August rally, when XRP briefly moved up to $1.70, the cryptocurrency is currently trading at approximately $1.32. Earlier this week, the price tested the $1.28 to $1.30 zone following a drop from $1.42. Buyers managed to defend this support, allowing for a modest rebound.
Key short-term resistance now stands between $1.34 and $1.36. This zone contains both recent resistance levels and the long-term moving average on price charts. If XRP manages to regain these levels, targets in the $1.40 to $1.45 range could become achievable, improving the asset’s technical outlook.
On the downside, the $1.28 level remains decisive. Additional support from major moving averages is clustered between $1.24 and $1.27. A loss of this entire support band would weaken the recovery and open the door to a more pronounced correction.
Outlook for XRP’s recovery
The significant spike in payment volume to 1.1–1.2 billion XRP coincides with the asset’s attempts to stabilize. Increased value transfer, higher transaction counts, and technical rebound attempts combine to provide XRP with greater support in its recovery efforts, even though these do not guarantee a sustained price reversal.
Increased value transfer, payment activity, and a technical bounce now offer XRP additional backing, but these developments alone may not ensure a full-scale price recovery.
