XRP’s extensive price consolidation has drawn renewed attention from market commentators, with some suggesting that its lengthy trading base could increase the likelihood of a significant future breakout.
Technical analysis highlights prolonged consolidation
Digital Asset Investor, a commentator known for sharing cryptocurrency analysis, recently compared XRP’s price action with Ethereum. He did so after referencing the perspective of Tom Lee, a financial analyst at Fundstrat Global Advisors, who is recognized for his insights into digital asset trends and traditional markets.
In a video, Lee emphasized the technical analysis principle that “the longer the base, the bigger the breakout,” referencing Ethereum as the “most neutral infrastructure” in the crypto industry. Lee observed that despite Ethereum trading around $2,700 and showing active network development, its price had held steady within a relatively tight range for an extended period.
According to this technical view, it is not uncommon for an asset to spend months or even years consolidating in a narrow range before making a decisive move up or down. Proponents of this approach argue that the longer the period of consolidation, the greater the momentum once a breakout occurs, though it does not guarantee that a large rally will follow every extended base.
“The longer the base, the bigger the breakout,” Lee noted, reflecting a widely followed principle among technical analysts.
Focus shifts from Ethereum to XRP
Building on Lee’s explanation, Digital Asset Investor posed the question of which cryptocurrency had maintained an even longer base than Ethereum. He identified XRP as the standout, citing its history of prolonged periods trading below previous peaks through several market cycles.
He suggested that XRP’s extended price activity makes it a particularly interesting candidate under this technical pattern. If the asset were to break out of its long-standing consolidation range, the historical duration could carry additional weight in the analysis of any upward price move.
XRP, created by Ripple Labs, has often experienced longer periods of consolidation than other major cryptocurrencies, due in part to ongoing regulatory scrutiny and varying investor sentiment.

“That would be XRP,” Digital Asset Investor remarked, highlighting the token’s distinctive trading history compared to Ethereum.
Community reactions and perspective
Reactions from the broader cryptocurrency community included commentary from X Finance Bull Academy, which supported the view that a longer consolidation phase raises anticipation for a potential breakout.
The account commented that the ongoing period of price stability only builds further interest in what might come if resistance levels are surpassed. For holders of XRP, market watchers believe a sustained break above established resistance is a key development to monitor.
XRP continues to trade below its historical highs, maintaining a lengthy price base that analysts are watching closely for signs of an emerging trend.
