Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States generated $853.54 million in net inflows during the week ending August 7, marking the strongest week for new investments since mid-April, according to data from SoSoValue. The rally in ETF flows comes after a prolonged period of heavy selling that weighed on Bitcoin’s price in recent months.

BlackRock’s IBIT dominates weekly inflows

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), a leading spot Bitcoin ETF, accounted for $693 million out of the total weekly inflow, significantly outpacing rival funds. BlackRock is a major global asset manager known for its extensive ETF offerings across financial markets.

Other spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. also recorded positive inflows, but their combined contributions were considerably smaller in comparison. The strong demand for IBIT highlights the growing interest from institutional investors returning to the sector.

Analysts view the upswing in ETF inflows as an early sign that institutions are regaining confidence in Bitcoin exposure after considerable withdrawals earlier this year.

IBIT drew $693 million in net inflows last week, leading all U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs and reinforcing BlackRock’s position as a dominant player in the market.

Market sentiment and price moves

Bitcoin prices have remained resilient despite unfavorable market developments. Negative news, including a recent multi-million-dollar Coldcard wallet hack and escalating yields in U.S. government bonds, did not significantly affect Bitcoin’s spot value. The cryptocurrency traded near $64,000 at the start of the week, rising to approximately $65,100 as of the latest data.

Friday’s weaker-than-expected U.S. labor report for July appears to have eased concerns about further interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve, potentially encouraging more institutional allocations to Bitcoin ETFs.

Despite the recent surge in ETF inflows, U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs remain around $4.5 billion in net outflows for the year to date. The market suffered sustained selling throughout the first half of 2024, contributing to Bitcoin’s 33% decline to below $60,000 by June’s end.

Expectations and outlook

Market observers note that sustained inflows will be necessary for Bitcoin to stage a significant rally. Previous bull markets demonstrated that weekly ETF inflows above $1 billion accompanied strong price advances. For example, from April to October 2025, Bitcoin prices climbed from approximately $75,000 to a record high of $126,000 while ETF inflows repeatedly surpassed $1 billion per week.

Attention now turns to the upcoming release of U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for July, scheduled for August 12. This key economic indicator could influence both investor sentiment and the trajectory of additional ETF inflows in the coming weeks.

Sustained and strong ETF inflows will likely play a crucial role in supporting future price gains for Bitcoin, especially as investors assess new macroeconomic data.
