MoonPay has introduced Telegram integration for its AI-powered crypto assistant, MoonAgents, as of Thursday. With this new feature, users can issue natural language commands via the popular messaging app to analyze markets, create dashboards, and prepare transactions on the go.
Scope of the Telegram integration
Kevin Arifin, the head of MoonPay Agents on the product team, explained that the Telegram rollout complements the existing MoonAgents desktop application. According to Arifin, the aim is to provide users access to the assistant even when they are away from their computers, making trading and analytics more flexible.
Arifin emphasized that while the desktop app requires a computer connection, users may want to analyze the market or set up transactions when out and about, and the Telegram integration serves as a seamless gateway for this need.
Arifin also pointed out that the choice of Telegram was not based solely on its wide adoption in the crypto community. Telegram offers a robust interface for setting up bots, whereas platforms like WhatsApp or iMessage introduce more friction through additional setup requirements.

Data storage and user control
MoonPay clarified that, within this setup, Telegram acts purely as an interface, while user data and private keys are stored locally on the user’s computer. The company says this approach is intended to minimize reliance on the messaging platform itself. MoonPay is recognized as a global fintech company specializing in crypto payments and digital asset infrastructure.
Arifin noted that all records are stored on the computer, so even if Telegram access is interrupted, users can continue the same conversations via the MoonAgents desktop app without issue.
He added that AI agent projects like OpenClaw and Hermes Agent have also influenced MoonAgents. These projects demonstrate how AI assistants can operate beyond traditional chat windows and empower users across new platforms.
AI integrations on the rise in crypto services
This development comes as more crypto companies build infrastructure that allows AI agents to interact with digital assets and online services. In April, Gemini introduced its Agentic Trading system, which lets users connect AI models—including ChatGPT and Claude—directly to trading tools on the exchange.
In June, Coinbase announced “Coinbase for Agents,” a tool enabling AI-driven agents to buy, sell, make payments, and manage portfolios for users within predefined limits. That same month, Nous Research released the desktop version of its open-source Hermes Agent, making it a stand-alone application instead of a command-line utility.
