Optimism (OP), a leading Layer 2 blockchain, completed its fifth AirDrop, distributing 10.3 million OP tokens (valued at approximately $16 million) to 54,700 user addresses. This AirDrop specifically rewarded users engaged with the Superchain ecosystem developed via OP Stack.
Active Users in Superchain Receive Rewards
In its fifth AirDrop, Optimism targeted users active on networks such as OP Mainnet, Base, Zora, Mode, Metal, Fraxtal, Cyber, Mint, Swan, Redstone, Lisk, Derive, BOB, Xterio, Polynomial, Race, and Orderly. Wallets that interacted with at least 20 different contracts in Superchain from March 15 to September 15, 2024, became eligible for the AirDrop. Users can claim their tokens until February 13, 2025.
According to Optimism’s announcement, “Airdrop #5 rewards strong users contributing to the growth of the Superchain Ecosystem.”
Additional Rewards Offered This Time
Unlike previous AirDrops, this one includes extra bonus conditions. Criteria such as transferring a specific amount of OP tokens or interacting with seven different networks in Superchain allow individual users to increase their rewards.
To date, Optimism has distributed over 265 million OP tokens through five AirDrops. Approximately 550 million OP tokens remain reserved for future distributions. The first AirDrop occurred on May 31, 2022, followed by a second on February 8, 2023. The third AirDrop on September 13, 2023, distributed 19.4 million OP tokens to around 32,000 addresses participating in the Optimism Collective delegation activities, valued at $26 million at that time. The fourth AirDrop took place in February 2024.
As of the preparation of this article, OP tokens trade at $1.55. Data shows the altcoin‘s price dropped by 5% in the last 24 hours. The circulating supply of OP tokens has reached 1.3 billion, with a market capitalization of $1.9 billion.
