In the world of cryptocurrency, attention has once again turned to Changpeng Zhao. Following President Donald Trump’s presidential pardon announced on October 23, there’s growing anticipation of Zhao potentially returning to his role as CEO at Binance. This possibility has garnered significant confidence among speculators on the crypto prediction platform PolyMarket.
Increasing Confidence in Zhao’s Return
According to transactions on PolyMarket, the probability of Zhao returning to Binance by December 31, 2025, spiked to 62% within the last seven hours. Currently, the likelihood stands at 39%.
On the platform, bets leaning towards “Yes” have dominated, with the total transaction volume surpassing $47,000. Interest in this speculative option surged following the pardon announced at the White House on October 23. Just hours prior to the pardon, the chances of his return were seen as nearly zero, but the market sentiment shifted dramatically afterward.

Data from PolyMarket reveals that markets concerning Zhao’s potential return have been active since September 19, 2025. This date is roughly a year after Zhao served a four-month sentence for violating anti-money laundering laws. The Trump administration’s statement about “ending the war on crypto” further intensified the political implications of the pardon.
Divided Opinions in the Crypto Industry
Zhao’s pardon has caused a significant division within the cryptocurrency sector. Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano
$0.57791, took to his X account to congratulate Zhao, arguing that the decision rectifies a glaring injustice. He also criticized the previous administration’s legal actions against stakeholders in the cryptocurrency industry.
However, political opinions differ significantly. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized Trump’s decision, labeling it a blatant example of corruption and reiterating the call for regulatory scrutiny of cryptocurrency exchanges. Zhao, in response via social media, urged Warren not to make accusations without understanding the facts.
Following the pardon, cryptocurrencies associated with the Binance ecosystem experienced notable increases. The ASTER project, previously backed by Zhao, saw a rise of over 14%, signaling renewed investor interest.
