South African comedian and showman Trevor Noah said that the biggest mistake of his life was not buying Bitcoin when it was still undervalued. The former host of The Daily Show made striking statements in front of thousands of attendees on the opening night of the Web Summit Qatar 2024 on February 26th.

Noah talked about his love for technology and shared his thoughts on the rise of artificial intelligence, but when asked about the biggest mistake of his life, he responded:
“The biggest mistake I made was not buying Bitcoin when it was worth nothing, that’s my biggest mistake, and at one point it had no cost.”
Trevor Noah, who hosted the American late-night talk show The Daily Show until September 2022, had previously discussed the crypto and NFT markets on the program. He had debated how Bitcoin and crypto became mainstream and joked about crypto terms and price volatility.
In 2018, Noah became the target of false rumors suggesting he would leave The Daily Show to trade Bitcoin through an investment scheme called Bitcoin Revolution South Africa, but these articles have since seemed to fade from the spotlight.
Growing Interest in Bitcoin
The Qatar technology conference started in Doha on February 26th and will continue until February 29th with discussions focused on technologies like fintech and AI. The Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Jassim al-Thani, also announced in his opening speech that the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) will invest $1 billion in international and regional venture capital funds to support entrepreneurs and emerging technologies.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, the 40-year-old comedian from Johannesburg has a net worth of around $100 million, so it’s unlikely he’s losing sleep over Bitcoin. However, Noah’s lament about missing out on crypto opportunities comes at a time when prices reached a 25-month high of $56,700 in early trading on February 27th, and Bitcoin’s market value surpassed the $1.1 trillion mark again.
Bitcoin has recorded a 34% increase in the last 30 days and is trading only 18.5% below its all-time high of $69,000 from November 2021.
