Crypto exchanges and custodians must constantly monitor the status of tokens they hold or list, tracking a range of events from exploits and network outages to software upgrades, token migrations, and governance outcomes. Many rely on specialized data providers to notify them quickly when significant developments occur.
Blockworks accelerates token monitoring
Blockworks, a prominent digital assets media and analytics company, has introduced Agentic Detection, an AI-driven alert system that enables customers to receive notifications about onchain events in near real-time. This update responds to increasing demands for speed as crypto markets react rapidly to new information.
Prior to this rollout, Blockworks relied on a manual process. Jason Yanowitz, Blockworks co-founder, explained that analysts would verify each development before issuing an alert to clients, a process taking about eight minutes on average for each item. With increasing trading activity and tighter market reaction times, this delay proved challenging for institutional desks seeking immediate data.
Now Blockworks has trained a proprietary AI model using several years of analyst data, allowing the new agents to identify and distribute alerts in a matter of seconds rather than minutes, Yanowitz stated.
Agentic Detection operates within Monitoring, a product initially developed by Messari, a blockchain data provider that Blockworks acquired in June. Customers now have the option to receive agent-detected alerts automatically, before human analysts review them, significantly reducing response time.
The system scans a broad data landscape, including content posted on platforms like X, Discord, and Telegram, as well as project code on GitHub, governance forums, official blogs, and over 1,000 news sources. The AI agents assign each event to one of 55 subcategories and monitor more than 1,000 assets.
Alerts can be integrated with messaging platforms such as Slack and Telegram, sent via email, or pulled into client systems through webhooks and APIs. Each alert is labeled either Agent-detected or Analyst-verified, depending on its review status. Customers can choose to view only verified alerts or opt into faster, agent-generated updates.
Blockworks claims Agentic Detection delivers alerts within five seconds, compared to the previous eight to ten minutes. The company is positioning this technology for use by exchange and custodian teams tasked with making rapid decisions about token listings or responding to security incidents.

Industry adoption and outlook
Yanowitz indicated that most leading exchanges and custodians now use the Monitoring platform to track developments affecting the tokens on their platforms. However, he did not disclose specific client names.
The launch of Agentic Detection marks Blockworks’ first major product introduction since acquiring Messari. At the time of the acquisition, Blockworks emphasized its ambition to make all relevant trading data and decisions accessible via APIs optimized for AI-driven processes.
Messari, recognized for its blockchain analytics, was integrated into Blockworks in June, strengthening the company’s offerings in institutional crypto data solutions.
