CoinMarketCap has acquired CoinGlass, a leading platform for crypto derivatives data, for an undisclosed sum, broadening its access to leveraged trading data from top exchanges worldwide.
Acquisition Details and Integration
The CoinMarketCap team stated on Friday that CoinGlass will retain its independent brand identity following the acquisition. The existing team will continue to manage CoinGlass, and no changes are planned for its website, mobile app, free analytical tools, or API services.
CoinGlass is known for monitoring key derivatives market metrics, including open interest, funding rates, liquidations, and options data. As of the acquisition, the platform covers 28 exchanges and tracks over 2,500 instruments.
With this integration, CoinMarketCap aims to provide its users with access to derivatives positioning data in addition to spot cryptocurrency prices. This will include insights into clusters of liquidation activity and trends in funding rates.
CoinMarketCap emphasized that the deal will offer its global audience new perspectives on leveraged trading, combining spot price tracking with advanced derivatives analytics to help users navigate volatile markets more effectively.
Market Context and Binance Connection
CoinMarketCap was previously acquired by crypto exchange Binance in April 2020. Binance stated at the time that CoinMarketCap would remain operationally independent, with no interference in its rankings or data curation practices.
Since then, CoinMarketCap has remained the most widely referenced source for real-time crypto pricing and market capitalization data, regularly introducing new data streams and improving user analytics tools.
The addition of CoinGlass further enhances CoinMarketCap’s data offering, strengthening its position as a comprehensive source for both spot and derivatives information in the crypto ecosystem.
Meme Token Trends and Fomo App’s Role
Beyond derivatives, market analysts highlight the dynamic activity in the meme token sector. Technical trends, such as rapid price movements and heightened volatility, often coincide with online trends triggering swift market reactions.
In the meme token market, an internet trend can transform into millions of dollars of interest within days. According to data shared by Fomo App, a trade involving “Niu Lai”—which turned an initial $99 investment into approximately $370,000, stands out as a striking example of this activity. In this market, tracking not only prices but also the timing and token choices of investors is crucial. Fomo App brings token discovery and trading together on a single platform, featuring social feeds, investor rankings, and trade notifications. Discover Fomo App to follow the world of meme tokens alongside investor activity.
Access to both derivatives and meme token data is increasingly important for users seeking to understand trading sentiment and capitalize on evolving trends within the cryptocurrency landscape.
