The XRP Ledger Foundation’s director of community, Hussein Zangana (known as Vet), has drawn attention to a new record set on the XRP Ledger’s network. Vet reported on X that the ledger processed 2,768 transactions within a single ledger, marking a milestone for network performance.
Network performance highlighted
Vet emphasized that the XRP Ledger network handled the surge effortlessly, highlighting its fast transaction speeds and low fees compared to other public blockchains. These features, Vet stated, make the XRP Ledger attractive for organizations seeking scalable solutions for institutional use.
Recent activity included multiple ledgers processing over 2,000 transactions each at close intervals. Vet described the transaction frequency as “impressive,” noting that the network maintained consensus and closed each ledger in just 3.8 seconds.
“Too slow, there is a new XRP single-ledger transaction high score: 2,768 transactions in one ledger, got eaten like NicNac’s,” Vet wrote.
An image shared by Vet demonstrated the system’s ability to handle this increased load effectively, with stable consensus and rapid ledger closures.
Breakdown of recent transaction patterns
The majority of these transactions were identified as 1-drop transactions, circulating among 20 accounts using a ring structure. Vet explained that these transactions appear to be part of “layers of probing” involving automated bots interacting with the network simultaneously.
He addressed node operators directly, advising them to consider increasing the message size limits of their websocket transaction subscription connections. This suggestion came after reports of 1008 policy errors when nodes attempt to pull high volumes of data.
Vet suggested, “You might need to increase the message size limits of your websocket tx subscription connection if you get 1008 policy errors pulling from your node.”
Vet also commented that understanding the motivations behind these probing transactions could be of interest to those monitoring network activity.
Future innovations for identity and protocol enhancements
In a separate post, Vet predicted growing demand for Zero Knowledge Identity solutions on the XRP Ledger. He pointed to upcoming amendments such as Credentials (XLS-70) and decentralized identity (XLS-40) as key developments. Vet noted that confidential identity is likely to be a significant feature beyond the traditional utility of moving money and value across the blockchain.
